According to me this problem comes from ur video card.
For example u can have this sort of problem when you're trying to overclok it. It's called artefact.
If u want to be sure just try with another game.
But maybe it's simply ur video card's fan that is dead. Too high temperature = artefact (as in overckloking attempt)

Maybe you could uninstall your video driver and reinstall it.

Sometimes some files use to make drivers crazy.

haha.....i had the same probs with my geforce 6800gt Very Happy....that problem comes from overheating the graphic card....if u have a nvidia try to download nTunes (where u can put your fan on 100% speed wich brings temperatur cooldown of 10-20C°.....or if u have an ATi dont know...nveer had one ^^

or open your chasis of your PC ...my Comp is opened too fan is working on 100%...my Card has a temperatur of 45C° in standy and 60 ingames (i have GeForce 8800GTX)
